A grudge match at Pamplona, where Racing Santander got their revenge on Osasuna with a 1-2 victory, a result which takes them four points clear of the relegation zone. The match between the two sides earlier in the season ended in controversy after Racing's manager Lucas Alcaraz put on four non-EU players at the same time, a mistake which cost him a lengthy ban and his club the point they earned from the draw. Some four or five months later Osasuna are still waiting for the CEDD to hear their appeal claiming the three points for themselves rather than the one they got, a decision which, if found in their favour, would give them a better chance of playing in Europe next season.

After six weeks without a win Alcaraz decided to make several changes, bringing in Israeli keeper Dudu Aouate in place of Ricardo and lining up with five at the back. The move appeared to be working when they reached half time without any real danger, but ten minutes after the restart the home side took the lead with a Puñal penalty after Juanma brought down Morales. The lead only lasted a few minutes though before Cristian Alvarez levelled the scores with a magnificent free kick, and with the game in injury time late substitute Afek headed the winner from an Alvarez corner. It was a third defeat in a row for Javier Aguirre's side, and they drop down the table to eighth place.

PS. Later in the week the CEDD finally gave their ruling on the case mentioned above, turning down Osasuna's claim. The club are considering a new appeal, including the possibility of asking the local courts to suspend the league placings until a decision has been made. This could of course affect which teams qualify for Europe this season, something that FIFA/UEFA are totally against.
