Celta kept alive their hopes of salvation after beating Osasuna 1-0, a result which takes the Galicians to within a point of safety and only four points away from twelfth placed Albacete. Caretaker managers Carnero and Sáenz put out an unchanged side and they had the better of the first half, Sanzol saving a long shot from Giovanella and Edu and Berizzo going close with headers. The visitors could have taken the lead early on though had referee Muñiz Fernández seen a clear penalty by Juanfran on Bakayoko.

Osasuna started well after the break though, and Muñoz shot just wide after a long run from midfield. But play went straight up the other end, and the midfielder went from near hero to villain in seconds, deflecting the ball in to his own net as Giovanella tried to hook it back to a team mate. The visitors could have levelled the scores in the last minute when Cavallero tipped Pablo García's free kick onto the bar and away, but it was not to be and Celta had won their first game at home for almost ten weeks. Osasuna though still hold on to the last UEFA spot as the teams around them all failed once again to take advantage.
