Zaragoza climbed away from the relegation spots with a 1-2 victory over a Valladolid side who have now lost their last five games. The visitors had not won in Zorrilla since 1964, but on a freezing night they took the lead early on when Generelo headed the ball over Bizzarri from Movilla's long free kick, the keeper committing himself but unable to reach the ball.

Losada wasted a chance to equalise soon afterwards and Oscar González had another effort saved by Valbuena, late substitute for the injured Lainez. But Oscar beat the keeper on the half hour mark with a downward header from Chema's cross, and the two sides went in level at the break.

The visitors kept up their attack after the break, with Galletti and Milito both testing a shaky Bizzarri. With a quarter of an hour to go Valladolid were left with ten men when Ricchetti was shown a second yellow card, and five minutes later Galletti took advantage of some slack defending by Julio César to strike a bouncing shot through the hands of Bizzarri for the winning goal.
