Goals:
1-0. 92. Hornos. Bundled ball into net after Baptista effort blocked.

A bad result for Real Sociedad only three days before the resumption of the Champions' League, the Basque side losing to a last minute goal at Sevilla. Manager Reynald Denoueix rested three of his key players for the midweek match, but his side could have taken the lead when Kovacevic's header was turned away for a corner by Esteban. The Andalucians were on top for the rest of the first half though, and Casquero went close a couple of times before the break.

Caparrós made changes early in the second half, and with several absences through injury and suspension he decided to bring on youngsters Sergio Ramos and Marcos Navas as well as Uruguayan striker Germán Hornos. Both sides had their chances, Aranburu shooting just wide and Baptista firing a free kick just over the bar. But just when it looked as if they were heading for a scoreless draw, Hornos got on the end of Baptista's headed pass to touch the ball under Westerveld and head the rebound into the empty net. It was his first league goal for the club, and it gave them their third win in a row, taking them up to within three points of the UEFA spots.
