Deportivo la Coruña
kept up the pressure on the top two after a 0-2 win at Albacete, who have now
gone seven games without a victory. The home side had the better of the first
half though, and only two important saves by Molina from Aranda and Pacheco
kept the scores level at the break. Depor's only reply was a shot from Luque
which beat Almunia but was comfortably cleared by the defence.
The Galicians scored twice
though in two minutes around the hour mark, Scaloni netting the first on the
follow up after Almunia could only push away a shot from Valerón, and
then Diego Tristán setting up Luque for a second on a rapid breakaway.
Cesar Ferrando's side had a chance to pull one back a few minutes later when
Aranda fell rather too easily in the penalty area under a challenge from
Héctor which cost the full back a red card, but Molina guessed right and
saved Aranda's spot kick. And the keeper kept out another effort from Aranda
later on.
Referee Carmona
Méndez turned down another late penalty appeal when Mikel was felled in
the area even though that appeared to be more a foul than the last one, the
substitute getting a yellow card and assistant coach Parada a red one for
protesting. But when Fabiano headed a late chance over the bar the game was
over, leaving the Manchegans in the relegation zone and keeping Depor four
points behind Valencia. |
