A humiliating 0-5 defeat for
Celta at the hands of arch-rivals Deportivo La Coruña could mean the end
for local manager Miguel Angel Lotina. It was a poor performance from a team in
disarray, and the scoreline could have been bigger had the visitors taken their
chances near the end.
Luque started things off
after Valerón set him up midway through the first half, shooting low
across keeper Cavallero. Things could have been different had Jesuli's clever
lob not come back off the post, allowing Molina to somehow scramble it clear,
but before half time Víctor intercepted a bad pass inside his own half
and ran on virtually unchallenged to score a second goal for the visitors.
Depor continued to dominate
after the break, and Víctor completed his hat-trick with two more goals
late on, the first from Pandiani's pass and the second a comedy of errors after
the winger hooked the ball high into the air and Cavallero allowed it to drop
slowly into the net off the crossbar.
Substitute Diego
Tristán made it five near the end, and the unhappy fans called for
changes. Celta ended the weekend in the relegation zone, a long way from their
Galician neighbours who consolidated their third place. |
