Sevilla recorded their first
win after two defeats in a row, beating Albacete 2-0. They were held though by
a well disciplined defence until ten minutes before half time, when referee
Téllez Sánchez sent off visiting defender Buades after an
off-the-ball incident with Darío Silva, who fell to the ground after a
clash between the two players. Only three minutes later the Andalucians took
the lead, Baptista directing a powerful header down past Almunia from a long
cross from Reyes.
It was double whammy for the
visitors, and Sevilla did their best to take advantage of their numerical
superiority to increase the lead in the second half. Almunia saved well though
from Martí and half time substitute Antoñito wasted another
chance, and for a while it looked as if the visitors could draw level. But
Téllez left them with nine men after Aranda was shown a second yellow
card for diving in the area, and with the game coming to an end Antoñito
connected with Martí's cross to make it two. |
