A surprise result in
Santander on Thursday night, where Racing were beaten 0-4 by a Sevilla side
inspired once again by Reyes and also by Baptista, returning to the starting
line up after an injury. The Cantabrians started the day in sixth place after
the results the day before, heading a group of seven sides on twenty points.
However they found themselves behind early on when Baptista beat Ricardo with a
well struck free kick, and Darío Silva made it two midway through the
first half from Martí's pass.
Racing tried to come back,
but Bodipo, Benayoun, Morán and Regueiro all failed to find the target.
And on the stroke of half time Martí swathed through the defence and set
up Baptista for his second goal of the night. With their hosts in disarray
Sevilla came out quickly after the break, and Reyes made it four before they
had time to settle. And although substitute Moratón headed against the
bar following a late corner, there was nothing Racing could do. Once again they
had failed in the Sardinero, where they have only picked up six points all
season, and if it was not for their away form they would be well down the table
by now. |
