Deportivo La Coruña lost top spot after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Real Murcia on Saturday evening. For the second game in four days the Galicians were unable to score, and with an important Champions' League tie against Monaco coming up they have to pick themselves up quickly.

Local manager Joaquín Peiró stuck to the attacking formation he used at Barcelona midweek, with Fredi coming in for the injured Michel. The Ex Sevilla midfielder was the first to test Molina in the third minute and did so again a few minutes later to no avail. The visitors gradually got the upper hand though as the first half progressed, with Juanmi did well to cut out a dangerous cross from Manuel Pablo with Scaloni on the prowl. But they suffered a blow shortly before half time when Luque had to be helped off the field, Fran coming on to replace him.

The second half was a more even affair, with both sides having chances. Valerón and Scaloni went close for the visitors, and David Karanka headed a Juanma cross against the bar at the other end. But eventually both sides had to settle for a point, which left Depor down in third place by the end of the weekend and Murcia still in the relegation zone.
