Goals:
0-1. 02. Benayoun. Volleyed past keeper after Bodipo headed down cross.

A goal in the second minute from Benayoun was enough to give Racing Santander a valuable victory in Vigo. With an important Champions' League game to come against Ajax on Tuesday night, local manager Miguel Angel Lotina decided to rest several of his key players. Pinto took over in goal, and B team youngster Borja Oubiña made his first ever start for the side. But before they could settle properly, Benayoun got on the end of Bodipo's headed pass to drive a volley past the stranded keeper.

The goal left the Galicians groggy and Bodipo could have scored a second on a couple of occasions, shooting just wide and then a few minutes later seeing Sylvinho intervene just in time to cut out Benayoun's cross. Celta didn't have much of a reply, and their only effort in all the first half was a Milosevic header just over the bar.

Lotina decided to change things, and brought on Juanfran at half time. The effect was immediate, and the Spanish international shot just wide of the far post soon after coming on. But with Mostovoi not his usual self there was nobody to rally the team, and when Luccin picked up a second yellow card for protesting near the end the game was all over. Celta are now only two points above the relegation spots and seem to be suffering from a heavy league and European program. Racing though are on the up, and with Sunday's games to come they move up to sixth.
