Sevilla and Villarreal
cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw, which for the home side was their
fourth in a row. The Andalucians started well, with Antoñito and Reyes
both testing Bizzarri, and Darío Silva opened the scoring when he bent a
free kick over the defensive wall with everyone expecting Casquero to take it.
Antoñito thought he had scored a second a quarter of an hour later when
he finished off after Darío Silva headed on Martí's cross, but
referee Puentes Leira disallowed the goal for a borderline offside.
The visitors levelled the
scores though six minutes in to the second half when Makukula got above Javi
Navarro to meet Torres Gómez's cross and send a looping header into the
top corner of the net. And things got worse for the locals when Darío
Silva got himself sent off for insulting a linesman.
The numbers were evened up
though a few minutes later when Marcos was also sent off after bringing down
Gallardo, and there were moments of tension as both sets of players clashed.
Both had chances near the end, with Notario only just holding on to Losada's
header at the second attempt and Reyes breaking through on the left but failing
to beat Bizzarri. But in the end a point apiece which didn't really satisfy
anyone. |
