Zaragoza now know what they have to do to win: play badly! Paco Flores's side had been playing well up to this match, but had not been able to take advantage and had lost games they should have won. But this time they put in one of their worst performances of the season, were outclassed by their opponents but ended up taking the three points!

With Makukula causing problems for a defence missing the injured Milito, the visitors had three or four goal chances early on. But they couldn't convert any of them, and Savio put the locals ahead on the quarter hour mark when he collected a pass from David Villa before beating Bizzarri.

After a good talking to from the manager, the home side came out looking better in the second half. But referee González Vázquez mistook Ponzio for Cuartero and gave the Argentine midfielder a second booking for something he didn't do, leaving Zaragoza with ten men for the last half hour. Fernando Vázquez threw on all his fire power after that, but they still couldn't beat Lainez and the hosts came away with a much needed win which they probably didn't deserve.
