Goals: 0-1. 46. Tiko.
Hit shot in off defender after Varela only partly cleared from
Etxeberría. 1-1. 90. Assunçao. Hit low shot past keeper after
Tote laid back Joaquín's pass.
A last minute goal from
Marcos Assunçao saved a point for Betis in their home match against
Athletic Bilbao. The Andalucians were trailing when Joaquín launched
another attack from the right flank, and substitute Tote turned the wingers
pass into the path of the Brazilian midfielder for him to crash a shot past
Aranzubia.
Tiko had put the visitors
ahead in the first minute of the second half, taking advantage of a
misunderstanding between Contreras and Varela and a bad clearance by the full
back under a challenge from Etxeberría. It was the young midfielder's
third goal in consecutive matches this season.
Betis should have taken the
lead though in the first half, especially when Joaquín was presented
with a gift by Denilson and Palermo four yards out. However the spanish
international incredibly put his shot over the bar. A couple of minutes later
the Basques could have scored when a long shot from Yeste struck the bar and
bounced over for a goal kick.
Tiko could have scored again
later in the second half when he charged down a clearance by a shaky Contreras,
but the ball rebounded wide. At the other end Capi had a shot saved by
Aranzubia and put another effort just wide when through.
The introduction of Tote for
his first appearance of the season livened things up, and the ex Real Madrid
striker was there to set up Assunçao and help Betis to their third home
draw in a row this season. |
