Valladolid bounced back from
their 7-2 thrashing by Real Madrid to beat Espanyol 3-1. Fernando
Vázquez's side were looking to wipe last weekend's result from their
memory, and they couldn't have had a better start, Zapata getting his own back
on the side who almost signed him by heading home a Fernando Sales cross in the
fourth minute. And then soon afterwards Jesús made it two with a quickly
taken free kick, catching Lemmens off guard still trying to line up the
defensive wall.
Finally the visitors woke
up, and not long after Alex Fernández hit the post, Bobson got his first
goal for his new club with a low shot past Bizzarri. But with the Catalans
pressing for an equaliser, referee Tristante Oliva ruled that Lopo's tackle on
Makukula was worthy of a second yellow card, and they were left with ten men.
After that the game slowed
down, and the numbers were evened up when Torres Gómez also saw red for
a tackle on Tamudo. Two minutes later though Tristante made another
controversial decision, awarding a penalty to the locals after Wome ran in to
Ciric from behind. The ex Barcelona midfielder converted the kick himself to
take his side up to seventh and leave their opponents back down in the bottom
three. |
