Celta are still looking for their first win in the league, and they ended up drawing for the third time this season, this time 1-1 at Villarreal. The early chances fell to Víctor for the locals, but he was unable to beat Cavallero in the visiting goal. Otherwise Celta had the better of the play, but Milosevic was not at his best and Reina was not really troubled.

With a quarter of an hour to go though, Mostovoi opened the scoring for the Galicians with a well placed header from Gustavo López's cross. It seemed as if they were on track for victory, but only a minute later the scores were level again when Berizzo tried to head clear a long ball under pressure from José Marí and only succeeded in deflecting it over Cavallero. Villarreal had kept up their unbeaten record this season, and go on their first ever UEFA cup tie next Wednesday in determined mood.
