Mallorca and Sevilla shared
the points in a 1-1 draw, in which the visitors dominated the first half and
the locals the second. Darío Silva opened the scoring in the eighteenth
minute, winning the ball off Lussenhoff and running on to beat Miki, who was
standing in for the suspended Leo Franco. Referee Teixeira Vitienes waved away
the home side's protests for a foul by the Uruguayan on the defender, as he had
done earlier on for a possible penalty in the other area. Later in the half
Sevilla could have gone further ahead after Darío Silva put through
Casquero, but his shot hit the post.
An injury though to Reyes
just before half time left the Andalucians without their inspiration, and
Mallorca came back into the game. Bruggink made it all square with a well
struck free kick, and Eto'o should have hit the winner later on but couldn't
beat Notario. In the end though a fair result which leaves both in midtable.
