The pressure is off Zaragoza manager Paco Flores after his side picked up their first points of the season in a convincing 3-0 over Real Murcia. Last season these two sides met in the second division, but this was a return to the big time for both. But it was the locals who struck first, ex Real Madrid forward Savio beating Sánchez Broto with a well struck free kick in the opening minute. Seven minutes later it was two after Cuadrado brought down Galletti on the edge of the area, David Villa converting the resulting penalty kick, and Galletti made it three himself with a low shot past the keeper on the half hour mark.

Murcia's only replies were a couple of efforts by Roberto Fresnedoso, and early in the second half Joaquín Peiró turned to his new signing Esnaider, who was whistled by the home fans on his return to his old club. The Argentine striker did manage to stir things up, and went just wide with a long shot shortly after Michel had tested Lainez with a free kick. Savio and Villa could have increased the lead though later on, although the fans were happy just to see the first goals of the season and that first win on the scoreboard.
