Osasuna moved back up to fifth in the table with a 1-0 win over Atlético Madrid, their third such victory over the Colchoneros in a row. Javier Aguirre's team were much the better side, even though the first chance fell to Fernando Torres who headed Musampa's cross wide. After that though it was all Osasuna, with Burgos just managing to save a long shot from Aloisi and Valdo hitting the post with another effort from outside of the area. The goal when it came though was tinged with fortune, Pablo García's long free kick bouncing through the defence and past a static Burgos without anyone touching it.

Burgos had to save again from Bakayoko before the break, and the Ivory Coast striker put another effort over the bar after the restart. Atlético managed a brief flurry, Torres heading into the side netting and Rodrigo hitting the bar from close up, but substitute Webó should have beaten Burgos when he intercepted a bad back pass from Gaspar, and Pablo García headed the resulting corner against the post. Osasuna ended the game with nine men after debutant Pinheiro picked up two yellow cards within minutes of coming on and Pablo García left the field injured with all three substitutions made, but it was tool ate for Atlético to react.
