Murcia made sure of
holding on to top spot with a 0-1 win at a rainy Terrassa on Saturday
evening. David Vidal's side took the three points with a second half goal from
Ismael after keeper Maestro failed to cut out Juanma's cross. The home side
felt hard done by when a late goal from Babangida was ruled out for a
borderline offside and then a foul inside the area was given outside, but in
the end they fell to their third defeat in a row and will probably be out of
the top half of the table by the end of the weekend.
Leganés
surprised Las Palmas, beating them 1-4 in their Insular stadium. Miguel
Angel gave the visitors the lead from the penalty spot after Bernaus fouled
Fede Marín, and although Orlando levelled the scores, Marín
restored the lead soon afterwards. Villa headed a third from Miguel Angel's
free kick on the stroke of half time, and substitute Sivori added a fourth
after the break after Darmon put him through. The home fans left the ground in
droves well before the end, and called for the head of manager Uribe.
A headed goal ten minutes
from the end by Bruno Marioni gave Tenerife a 1-1 draw at struggling
Eibar in their Sunday lunchtime game. The Basques had taken the lead
late in the first half against the run of play through Jorge Sánchez
after good work by Garitano and Leniz, and with keeper Riesgo in great form had
sat back to defend their lead. Alex had a chance to make it two after Lediakhov
set him up, but he wasted the opportunity and a minute later Marioni equalised
to keep his side in fifth place pending the evening games.
Getafe failed to make
it four home wins in a row, and were held to a 1-1 draw in their Sunday morning
kick off game against bottom club Oviedo. The Madrid based side went in
front with a quarter of an hour gone when Nano headed a corner past Jonathan,
but despite several chances later on were unable to add to their lead. Lozano
took advantage of a long ball to make it all square twelve minutes from the
end, keeping alive their hopes of salvation.
Reports on Sunday evening's
games to follow. |
