Leaders Murcia lost
their second game in a row and will lose their top spot as well when Zaragoza
and Levante meet on Sunday lunchtime. David Vidal's side were beaten 3-1 on
Saturday evening by Getafe, who needed the points after their recent
slide down the league table. The locals new signing Edgar started things off in
the fourth minute after a defensive mix up, and could have extended the lead a
few minutes later. The visitors were close to equalising just before half time
when Setvalls header was cleared off the line by Txema with the keeper beaten,
but Vivar Dorado put the locals further ahead in the second half after Estevez
headed back Alberto's cross. David Karanka pulled one back with a spectacular
effort five minutes from the end, but Vivar Dorado got his second of the night
in the last minute to wrap things up.
The two Canary Island teams
both recorded good results on Saturday to move up into the upper reaches of the
table. Las Palmas beat Xerez 4-0 to move ahead of them on goal
difference to fifth place, and having started the season in the lower half of
the table they are now serious candidates for promotion. Reggi scored twice for
the locals in the first quarter of an hour of the game, and although Moreno hit
the post for the Andalucians, they were never in the match. Baiano hit the bar
with a free kick before Pedro Vega made it three after the restart, and Carmelo
added a fourth near the end after a great team move.
Tenerife are now
seventh, only two points behind their neighbours, after defeating struggling
Oviedo 0-2. Iván Ania gave the visitors the lead on the quarter
hour mark against his old club, and keeper Jonathan let a soft goal from
Jesús Vázquez shortly before half time. The Asturians'
frustration grew in the second half, and they ended the game with nine men
after David Cano was red-carded and Paredes followed for a second bookable
offence near the end. With the teams above them picking up points, Oviedo are
now three points adrift at the bottom of the table.
Córdoba made
it three victories on the trot after winning 1-3 at Almería, and
their new-look team are moving steadily clear of the bottom spots. Serban gave
them the lead midway through the first half, and Moisés hit the post
before half time substitute Ramos equalised for the locals after the break.
Montenegro put Zambrano's side back in front, following up after the defence
tried to clear Fernando's cross, and after Almería's Olivares was sent
off for a hard tackle on Pato, Gorka García took advantage of a bad back
pass to make it three.
Córdoba move up to
twentieth place above Racing Ferrol, who continue their slide after
being held to a 1-1 draw in their Gallician derby against Compostela.
Maikel missed two good chances to put the visitors ahead early on, but Lima
made up for it, scoring with a low free kick eight minutes before the interval.
the lead only lasted three minutes though before veteran striker Cuéllar
headed an equaliser from Graib's cross. Ferrol should have gone ahead from the
penalty spot after Chema brought down Uche in the second half, but Oliver saved
Toril's kick.
