Málaga moved up to
within a point of the UEFA cup spots after a last gasp 0-1 win at
Alavés, their third such victory in a row. It was a smash and grab
victory after the home side had done enough to win the game, but had failed to
take their chances. Contreras fisted out an effort from Pablo early on and
Rubén Navarro hit the post (although referee Carmona Méndez ruled
out the play) in the first half, and local captain Karmona had a headed goal
disallowed following a second half corner for a questionable foul.
Manu had also missed an
early chance late in the first half though, shooting wide when free in front of
goal, and Musampa had also failed to find the target after the break.
Mané's side were left with ten men though when Desio picked up a second
booking, and with the match appeared to be petering out to a scoreless draw,
substitute Iznata won the ball on the right wing and crossed in for
Darío Silva to score. The defeat was bitter blow for the Vitoria based
side, who have now only picked up two points from their last eight games and
who stay in the relegation spots as a result. |
