Celta put in a merciless display against the league's bottom club Recreativo Huelva, beating them 4-1 to close up on the leaders. Lotina decided to leave Catanha on the bench again, giving Edu the striker's position for another week, and the young Brazilian opened the scoring five minutes before the break from a set piece free kick, heading Luccin's cross past the hapless Luque.

The domination from the Gallicians continued after the break, with Mostovoi getting free of the defence but shooting just wide, and soon afterwards Edu added a second goal, also from a header following Sylvinho's cross. Lotina brought on Jesuli for Gustavo López, and within four minutes the substitute made it three, striking an impressive shot into the far top corner of the net after Edu set him up.

Lucas Alcaraz had already used two substitutes, with Espinola coming on with half an hour gone for Merino, who was rushed off to hospital with a leg injury, and young striker Xisco replacing Arpón at the break, and he played his last card bringing on his new signing Joaozinho as a third striker. Raúl Molina failed to convert a chance though, and Jesuli made it four with a well taken goal from Mostovoi's pass soon afterwards.

Catanha eventually came on, and could have made it five, first of all bringing a good save out of Luque and then firing a shot against the post, the ball rebounding across the goal before being cleared. In the last minute Recreativo did finally score, although it took one of their opponents to do it for them, Sylvinho putting through his own net after a misunderstanding with Cavallero. As the game came to an end there was a bust up between Catanha and Pernía, and although players intervened to separate them on the pitch, there was apparently another altercation between them in the players' tunnel between which left the Recre full back with a black eye.
