Málaga ended their run of two defeats in a row with a 1-0 victory over struggling Osasuna. After resting half of his best players last week following their UEFA cup tie, Joaquín Peiró brought back all of them for this game. Javier Aguirre was missing the suspended Pablo García, and also Gancedo who was reportedly suffering from gastro-enteritis, but who had had a brush with the local police midweek after travelling in a car without insurance.

The visitors went close early on, Iván Rosado bringing a point blank save out of Contreras. For the rest of the first half though it was a wave of blue and white, with Darío Silva shooting wide and Sanzol saving well from Musampa and Dely Valdés. Gerardo hit the post with a long shot after the restart, and it was only a matter of time before the locals scored, Silva collecting a pass from Sandro and beating a defender before drilling a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The Pamplona based side had no reply, and only an effort from Aloisi caused any problems for the defence. Substitute Miguel Angel brought the save of the night from Sanzol with a long volley, and a wild cross from Valcarce bounced off the bar in the last minute. A comfortable win for the locals, and Osasuna could find themselves bottom of the table at the end of the weekend if Recreativo get a result at home to Valladolid. Aguirre's time may be coming to an end.
