In a low scoring weekend, Osasuna's keeper Unzué recorded his fourth clean sheet in a row to help his side to a 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano. Although it was their first win at the Sadar stadium in four games, the result extends the Pamplona based side's unbeaten run to seven matches, and they move up the table to a comfortable twelfth place. Iván Rosado kept his place in attack alongside Aloisi in Miguel Angel Lotina's side, and he wasted two good opportunities in the first ten minutes, with Etxeberria getting the better of him both times. Rayo came back inspired by Michel, who brought a good save out of Unzué and then fired a free kick just wide of the post.

Lotina brought on a third forward Sabino ten minutes in to the second half, and two minutes later his opponents were down to ten men after Ferrón got himself sent of for the second time in a month for elbowing Yanguas. A few minutes after that Sabino got what was to be the only goal of the game, following up after Etxeberria parried away a header from the league's only ever-present outfield player Cruchaga following a corner. Osasuna could have increased their lead when Sabino missed a sitter near the end, but seconds later Unzué made the save of the night from Gregorio Manzano's perpetual late substitute Glaucio to stop their opponents from taking a point. It was only Rayo's second defeat in ten games, but they drop a place to nineteenth, and the result is a setback for their survival hopes.
