Bottom club Rayo Vallecano drop further behind the rest after being held to a scoreless draw by Las Palmas. It was a hard game in which the visitors were not taking prisoners, picking up seven yellow cards and two reds between players and technical staff. Samways set the tone, and was lucky to get away with a yellow for an attack on Pablo Sanz. Then Angel got himself sent off for a tackle on Peragón, and assistant trainer Aparicio followed him down the tunnel for protesting. The Canary Island side had started well, with Lopetegui making two or three saves from Orlando, who was playing alone up front in this game.

Referee Rodríguez Santiago turned down two appeals for penalties from Las Palmas and one from Rayo, but hid did give one to the visitors in the second half when Mauro fouled Pablo Lago. However half time substitute Sequieros fired his shot against the bar. A minute later Rayo had their best opportunity of the match, Peragón hitting the inside of the post with a speculative shot, and Glaucio wasted another chance in the last minute with Nacho González beaten. However the two sides had to make do with a point each, leaving Rayo four points adrift at the bottom, and Las Palmas only two points above the drop zone in fifteenth place.
