Betis moved back up to third place, level with Alavés on points after a 1-2 victory at Osasuna, their first away win in around two months. It was a strange match, with all three goals coming in the second half from Osasuna players, although unfortunately for the Pamplona based side two of them were in their own net. Osasuna had been the better side in a lively first half, with Puñal hitting the inside of a post from a free kick, although Tomas had responded at the other end with a header against the crossbar. Ten minutes in to the second half Denilson struck a free kick from the right of the area, and Armentano forced his way past Benjamín to deflect the ball spectacularly in to his own net.

Then four minutes later a speculative shot from Cañas caught Contreras on the top of the head and flew over the stranded Unzué. Rivas had a goal disallowed which would have wrapped things up and Unzué pushed a shot from Luis Fernández against the bar, but Iván Rosado pulled one back for the home side with a quarter of an hour to go as they came out looking for the equaliser. Betis held on though, and Osasuna drop down the table into the relegation zone at the end of the weekend. With manager Lotina already announcing he will leave at the end of the season they will have a fight on their hands to stay up.
