Valladolid climbed out of
the danger zone above their opponents Las Palmas with a 1-0 victory on Sunday
night. The only goal of the game came early on from Turu Flores who headed home
a corner from Eusebio, making his first start of the season. Turu refuse to
celebrate his first goal for his new club though in deference to the Canary
Island side who brought him to Spain five years ago. Valladolid created more
chances but Tote was not on his best form, and after missing an easy chance in
the first half he saw his penalty kick saved by Nacho González just
after the restart. It was the keeper's second penalty save of the season, and
restored some justice after Marcos appeared to have fooled referee Iturralde
González when he dived over Angel's outstretched leg. Youngster Oscar
made his debut for the home side and showed some good touches, and Ricardo and
Tena closed out any attempt from Las Palmas to come back late in the game.
