Two goals in a four minute
period in the second half by Iván Rosado, his first at the Sadar stadium
since joining the club in summer, gave Osasuna their second victory in a row
and took them to within four points of climbing out of the relegation zone.
Valladolid had come to Pamplona looking for a draw, preferably without goals by
the look of it, and Pancho Ferraro drafted in an extra defender Peña in
a five man defence. If anything they had the better of a dull first half,
Heinze joining the attack to head just over the bar and Nuno saving from Sales
and Pachón.
After the break Osasuna
picked up their ideas, with Gancedo for once looking effective with two early
attempts at goal before Rosado's double strike. Ferraro had two changes left,
and he with Caminero out injured and Harold Lozano only just returning after a
long injury, he opted to put on Ciric and Alberto. It was a bit too late
though, and although García Calvo did get one back in injury time, the
three points went to the home side.
To make matters worse for
the visitors, Jesús was sent off in injury time for a second bookable
offence, and the insults he made to referee Esquinas Torres on the way off the
field could leave him with a lengthy ban given his poor disciplinary record
this season. The result probably keeps Miguel Angel Lotina in a job for another
month or so, and leaves Valladolid a little bit further away from the European
places in twelfth spot. |
