It seems that nobody wants to
go up from the second division, with none of the top nine winning. Leaders
Salamanca stay top despite losing at home to Leganés, with Pachón
scoring the only goal of the match. The leaders have now gone eight games
without a win, and manager García Remón has to start winning if
he is to keep his job (the board were due to meet after the match). Incredibly
only five points separate the top eleven clubs. Three matches between the top
clubs all ended in draws, with second placed Las Palmas taking the lead through
Vinny Samways against Córdoba, but Puche equalising in the second half.
Third and fourth placed teams Extremadura and Levante also drew 1-1, with the
league's top scorer Salillas getting his 18th goal of the season for the
visitors and Tito scoring for the home side. Villarreal and Tenerife drew 0-0.
Lleida took advantage of all that to move up four places to sixth with a last
minute goal from Simeon after Osasuna had been reduced to ten men. Sporting
went ahead through Tcheryshev, but Elche came back to win and move a little bit
further away from the drop zone. Now we're on the subject, Logroñes
finally lifted up their heads and went ahead of Compostela with a Borja
hat-trick poisoning the Gallician side's day. Changui got one back late in the
match. Elche's victory means that both are in the relegation area, two points
behind them, and three ahead of Recreativo, who drew at Eibar. Bottom club
Toledo lost at Getafe and are now four points adrift. In the Extremadura derby,
Badajoz were well beaten 0-3 by neighbours Mérida, with goals by Sena,
Tal and Sinval. Albacete beat Atlético B with a second half goal by
Bulevic after missing a penalty. Atlético B could be relegated this
season even if they stay clear of the last four places if their first team are
relegated from the first division. This would presumably mean that only three
others would go down. The situation of Logroñes is also not clear, and
they too could drop out of the league if they are wound up by their legal
administrator.
