The second division is getting
as close as the first, with only 13 points separating second place from
nineteenth. None of the top five won, with leaders Salamanca losing 3-0 to
bottom club Toledo, with three second half goals by David, Torre and Miguel
Angel. Las Palmas and Levante both drew their matches 0-0, against
Leganés and Eibar respectively. Extremadura lost 2-0 to Compostela, with
their new manager, Pichi Lucas, taking over from Vidal during the week.
Sporting move above Extremadura on goal average after their 0-0 draw with
Badajoz. Three players and two trainers were sent off in the match between
Villarreal and Elche, which the home team won with a single goal by Craioveanu.
They move up to within a point of Sporting, and two of Las Palmas and Levante.
Four teams are level on 40 points, Badajoz, Osasuna, Lleida and Tenerife, who
won 4-0 against a Getafe side who have not won in the last nine games. Mista
scored two for the islanders. Osasuna were surprised at home 0-2 by ten men
Córdoba, the most successful side in the second half of the season, and
Mérida and Lleida played out the fourth score-less draw of the day.
Another draw in Huelva, but this time with six goals shared between Recreativo
and Albacete, with a penalty each in the second half. After a good recent run
Recreativo drop down to next to bottom again, five points ahead of Toledo,
thanks to a narrow 0-1away victory by Logroñes at Atlético Madrid
B, who were missing seven first team players through injury, suspension and
international duty. Logroñes need to get out of the relegation zone if
they are to have any chance of financial survival. |
