Mallorca 3 - Sevilla 1
Mallorca: Leo Franco;
Olaizola, Nadal, Siviero, Miguel Soler; Lauren, Engonga, Chichi Soler,Carreras;
Carlos, Tristán. 4-4-2. Sevilla: Valencia; Marchena, Prieto,
Héctor, Tabaré, Nando; Francisco, Quevedo, Tsartas; Jesuli, Juan
Carlos. 5-3-2.
Sevilla go from bad to worse,
and they are now four points adrift at the bottom of the table. Marcos Alonso
made another four changes, leaving out Uruguayans Rabadja and Otero along with
Zalayeta and Olivera, with only Tabaré from the overseas players in the
starting line up. Vázquez made three changes, with Miguel Soler back
from injury joining Carlos and Carreras in the team to the detriment of David,
Ibagaza and Biagini. The visitors hung on for seventy-five minutes of intense
pressure however before the flood gates opened, and it took one of their own
players to do it, Prieto turning Diego Tristán's cross into his own net.
Once Valencia was beaten everything fell apart, with Carreras adding a second
two minutes later after the ball was only partially cleared, and substitute
Ibagaza making it three two minutes from time after Valencia had saved.
Transfer listed substitute Zalayeta pulled one back in the last minute from a
pass by Tsartas. Mallorca rise to seventh, behind Valencia on goal average.
Sevilla are desperately looking for new players, but at the moment it looks
like a lost cause.

Real Sociedad: Alberto;
Guerrero, Loren, Corino, Pikabea, Aranzábal; Gómez, De Pedro,
Aramburu, Sa Pinto; Idiakez. 5-4-1. Valencia: Palop; Gerardo,
Djukic, Pellegrino, Björklund; Milla, Farinós, Mendieta, Kily
González; Claudio López, Juan Sánchez. 4-4-2.
Real Sociedad followed up
their weekend goal-less draw with another against Valencia, and have now gone
295 minutes since scoring a goal. It is difficult to do so without any forwards
however, and Clemente packed his side with defenders and midfielders, with one
of them, this time Idiakez, drawing the short straw to play up front with
Bonilla and De Paula left on the bench. Cúper was without the injured
Albelda and Angloma, Milla and new signing Gerardo substituting, with Claudio
López returning up front in place of Oscar. Gerard and Carboni were
still serving their suspensions for sendings off three weeks ago, and Ilie was
still injured. Within fourteen minutes Real lost new signing Corino, playing
his first match at home, through an injury, López Rekarte replacing him,
and at half time Loren suffered the same fate, this time Mutiu coming on. With
keepers Alberto and Palop dominating neither side were able to score, and the
managers threw on a couple of forwards, De Paula for Real and Oscar and Vlaovic
for Valencia, near the end without effect. Valencia hold on to sixth place,
with Real Sociedad dropping into the relegation zone in 18th place.
