With two goals in the last
five minutes against Albacete, leaders Salamanca kept up their push for
promotion at the first attempt after being relegated last season. Goals by
Quique Martín (who missed a penalty earlier) and Munteanu gave them a
2-1 victory. Levante's good run finally came to an end as they lost to Osasuna
2-0 with two goals in a minute in the first half, but they stay in second
place, now six points behind the leaders. Extremadura lost their opportunity to
go second, losing 2-0 at bottom club Toledo, with Sánchez Duque taking
over as manager of the home side for the first time. Las Palmas drop further
down the table after a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Villarreal. They have
now only got 3 draws from their last six matches. Fellow Canary Islanders
Tenerife jumped over them to fourth place after thrashing Leganés in
Madrid by 0-4, with a hat-trick by Barata. Sporting moved up to fifth with a
0-1 away win against struggling Atlético Madrid B. Logroñes are
not sure if they have any future after their club entered winding up
proceedings. However they impressed any potential investors with another
victory, this time 1-0 against improving Getafe, to add to their good run in
the cup. Recreativo, Leganés, Atlético B and Toledo currently
occupy the four relegation spots, although if Logroñes disappear only
three will go down.
