Draws for two competitions
were made during the week, with Spain as a top seed in both.
In the 2002 World Cup
preliminary round draw, they were once again paired with Austria and Israel,
who they defeated easily in the Euro 2000 preliminaries. The other two teams in
the group of five were Bosnia-Herzogovina and Liechtenstein. If Camacho is
still in charge by then, he can already start working on his Japanese and
Korean phrase book.
In the draw for the Euro 2000
finals, they were drawn in group C with Norway, Yugoslavia and Slovenia, also
considered a relatively easy group compared to the others. Dates, rivals and
places for their matches are as follows:
13th June 2000 Norway
Rotterdam, Holland 18th June 2000 Yugoslavia Amsterdam, Holland 21st
June 2000 Slovenia Bruges, Belgium
Spain's under 21 side will be
seeded in the upcoming European championships, which will be played in Slovakia
from 27th May to 2nd June next year. |
