Leaders Salamanca were beaten
by third placed Extremadura to narrow the gap at the top. The only
goal of the match came from Juanito early in the first half. A
Salillas hat-trick helped second placed Levante to a 5-2 win over
Leganés. The striker is now top scorer of the league with
fourteen goals. Las Palmas were ahead at Getafe, but the Madrilenians
came back to win after Olias put through his own net. Meanwhile their
Canary Island rivals Tenerife moved equal fourth with them after a
belaboured victory against Atlético Madrid B, with a goal from
Simutenkov five minutes from time. Mérida's new manager Juan Señor
lead his team to their second triumph in a row, cutting short
Sporting's rise up the table. Recreativo moved away from the danger
zone, at the same time anchoring Toledo firmly at the foot of the
table with a 3-0 victory. All league positions may be affected however
by the eventual fate of Logroñes. They failed to find a buyer
by the deadline this week and now enter a ten day liquidation period.
If they don't find a white knight in that time they could disappear
entirely, and their results will be wiped from the slate. .
