Spain's under 21 team beat
Norway over 2 legs in their European qualifying tie and reached the quarter
final league stage. Taking one of the top spots at the league stage also
qualifies an under 23 side for the Olympic games in Sidney next year. The
possibility that Spain may take part is currently causing controversy as the
games will take place from 13th September to 1st October when the season is
under way, and top players (including three over the age of 23) could be
missing from their club sides for up to three weeks. The two legs, played on
13th and 16th November, ended as follows:
