Real Sociedad continued
with their good start this season with a narrow 2-1 victory against
Mallorca. Real were forced to make several changes, with Aranzábal
and Mutiu out with injuries and Félix Guerrero suspended, but
with Sa Pinto, Juan Gómez, and De Pedro all back from injury,
and Austria's Didi Kuhbauer back in favour after claiming that the
other players didn't pass to him. Mallorca kept the same attacking
pair that started the last two matches, Carlos and Diego Tristán,
with new signing Quinteros left out of the squad. Idiakez gave Real
the lead in the 22nd minute, but Diego Tristán equalised ten
minutes from time, his third goal in as many matches. The game
appeared to be ending in a draw, but Mallorca's tired legs after their
long journey to the Czech republic last Thursday proved too much, and
substitute Aldeondo nipped in to convert Sa Pinto's cross just before
the end to steal the three points away from the island side.
Atlético de Madrid
finally got their first point of the season thanks to a good goal by
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. They started off behind to Zaragoza,
when Milosevic beat keeper Toni on the near post with a header from a
corner in the 18th minute. However Hasselbaink ran on to a long pass
ten minutes later to bring the sides level. Atlético manager
Claudio Ranieri tried out his fifth combination in five matches,
playing a 4-4-1-1, with Valerón playing behind Hasselbaink up
front. Lardín, Hugo Leal, José Mari and Chamot were left
out, with out of favour Venturín coming back into the side as
well as youngsters Gaspar and Baraja. With Valencia losing, Atleti
move off the bottom of the table. Zaragoza are mid-table with five
points. |
