The 2012/13 season will probably start on the last weekend of August. The date will be confirmed when the new league schedule is published in mid July.
After all the play-off matches have been played in the second division B, usually in the second week of July.
As a rule, all the matches in the first division are played on Sunday. They may bring some of them forward to Saturday if the match is to be televised on the national TV (La2), or if either team is playing in a midweek European competition the following week. Kick-off times are confirmed at the beginning of each week and are published on our 'Kick-off Times' page.
Generally speaking, Spanish clubs do not put tickets on sale more than a week in advance of each league match. We have contacted all the first division clubs and the information given is published on our 'Ticket Sales' page. Why not try our on-line Ticket Office if you are interested in purchasing in advance to make sure you have the tickets before making your travel arrangements?
The Spanish football federation (Real Federación Española de Fútbol http://www.rfef.es/) normally decide on the venue only 2-3 weeks before each fixture. Tickets will then be made available from the host club and also from the federation. This usually involves reserving them by telephone, making the payment by bank transfer, then collecting them at the ground on the match day. However, tickets are generally available on the day of the match and can be purchased from the ticket office at the ground.
We are happy to report that the atmosphere at any Spanish football ground is very family friendly and alcohol induced brawling or violence is rarely seen. Let's help them keep it that way!
Our 'Clubs and Squads' section has the details of all the first division and second division A clubs, including their address. There are also maps showing where they are.
