Seventh placed Villarreal will be Spain's representative in the Conference League this season. The East coast side should have participated last year as well, the first time this competition took place, but their victory in the Europa League final meant they were promoted to the Champions League instead. Villarreal were knocked out of the competition in the round of 16 after losing 2.1 on aggregate to Anderlecht. (16.02.23)
