They did it! Sevilla beat Inter Milan 3-2 in this year’s Europa League final to take the title for a record sixth time! Lopetegui’s side got off to a bad start, Lukaku converting an early penalty after he was brought down by Diego Carlos in the area. But De Jong headed two back in the next half hour to turn the scoreline around, the first from a Jesús Navas cross, and the second from a Banega free kick. Godín levelled the score quickly with a header from Brovocic’s free kick, but with a quarter of an hour to go Diego Carlos got the winner with an overhead kick which went in off the boot of Lukaku. A success for Spain after the disappointing Champions League campaign, and LaLiga will have a representative in this year’s European Super Cup once again. (21.08.20)
