A full house for Spanish sides in Europe this year, Getafe joining Sevilla and Espanyol in the Europa League round of 32 after a 3-0 win over Krasnodar on Thursday. With Basel finishing top of their group, this was a winner-take-all match, and things were fairly even until Cabrera headed them into the lead following a corner with a quarter of an hour to go. Two minutes later though Jorge Molina turned in Nyom’s cross, and Kenedy rounded things off near the end. The other two though, already sure of finishing first in their respective groups, both lost by a single goal. Sevilla were beaten 1-0 at APOEL Nicosia, the result ending their 100% record in the competition, and Espanyol lost 0-1 to CSKA Moscow, bringing to a close their unbeaten run in Europe of 26 games.
