Spain’s under 21 side qualified for the semi-finals (and consequently the 2020 Olympic Games) after winning through the group stage. A 3-1 defeat to hosts Italy appeared to have ended their chances, but a late strike by Fornals gave them a 2-1 victory against Belgium, and with Italy losing to Poland, Luis de la Fuente’s side came into their last group game against Poland needing to score three goals to be sure of topping their mini-league. They got those by half time though, and Ceballos and Mayoral added two more after the break to make it 5-0 in the end. (22.06.19)
