Spain’s under 21 side beat Romania 1-0 in the first of two warm up games for this summer’s European finals. Coach Luis de la Fuente gave first run-outs to Pedro Porro, Reguilón, Aleñá and Manu Vallejo, and his team dominated for most of the match, with Mikel Merino going close early on, and Borja Mayoral bringing good saves out of Radu either side of the break. Merino headed in the only goal midway through the second half after Radu pushed out Jorge Sáenz’s header following a Carlos Soler corner, and substitute Rafa Mir hit the upright later on. Keeper Unai Simón hardly had a save to make all night, and Spain now go on to play Austria after a confidence boosting win against one of the teams who will be competing against them in Italy next June.
