For the second time in the group stage, Spain put eight goals past Liechtenstein, and with three points and a massive positive goal difference in their favour over second placed Italy, a win in either of their next two games against Albania and Israel will see them through to next summer’s finals. With only three minutes gone Sergio Ramos headed Julen Lopetegui’s side in front, and soon afterwards Morata headed a second and then set up a third for Isco after keeper Jehle scuffed his kick and gifted the ball to the striker. Morata had another header ruled out for a questionable offside before Silva fired home the fourth with a direct free kick, and De Gea only had one real save to make, from Polverino just before the break. Aspas came on at the interval to score the fifth after Morata’s header hit the bar and fell to him off the back of Jehle, and the Celta striker then passed through for Morata to complete the set. Jehle kept out Morata and Delofeu after that, but Aspas scored again after the keeper could only push out a shot from Pedro, and Deulofeu wrapped things up with a low cross which Göppel deflected in to his own net.
