Atlético Madrid are virtually out of the Champions League after they were surprisingly held to a 1-1 draw in the Metropolitan stadium by Qarabag! Simeone’s side were on top throughout, Sehic saving from Griezmann and Gameiro early on. Ex Gijón midfielder Michel headed the Azerbaijanis in to the lead though from Guerrier’s corner shortly before the break, but Thomas made it all square soon after the restart, and a couple of minutes later the visitors were left with ten men when Pedro Henrique picked up a second yellow card. Saúl had a header cleared off the line after that, Sehic saved from Gabi, Godín and Gaitán, and Gameiro and Filipe Luis also missed chances, but they could not find the net, and they too had Savic sent off for a second bookable offence near the end. Atleti now have to beat Roma and Chelsea, and hope Qarabag take something off one of them to have any chance of going through.
