Atlético Madrid came away from Roma’s Olympic Stadium with a more than respectable draw in their opening match, although they will rue the fact that they failed to convert several chances throughout the match. Koke and Griezmann both fired shots inches wide early on, and Koke had another effort cleared off the line by a defender a few minutes later. Oblak had to keep out Naingolan, and Dzeko put a good chance wide before the break; but after the restart Alisson had to save from Vietto, Correa and Carrasco, and with the game in injury time Saúl turned a shot against the post after the keeper could only push out his initial header.
