Spain’s under 21 side made sure of their place in the semi-finals of the European championships after beating Portugal 3-1 on Tuesday evening. Both teams having won their opening games, this was already the group decider, and Podence came close to putting Portugal ahead when he hit the post early on. A few minutes later however Saúl gave Spain the lead with a shot which deflected in off a defender, and a confident Kepa made saves from Bruno Fernández Cancelo and Podence to keep his side in front at the break. Sandro went close a couple of times before the interval though, and Ié cleared off the line from Marco Asensio before Sandro made it two on a quick counter-attack. With a quarter of an hour to go Bruma got one back with an impressive volley, but with the game in injury time Williams ran through to wrap things up. (20.06.17)
