It looks as if all four of the regional group champions will be promoted this season after Albacete and Barcelona B both won the first legs of their respective play-off finals this weekend. Albacete beat Valencia Mestalla 0-1 on Saturday, Eloy Gila getting the only goal for the Manchegans from Aguilo’s cross shortly before half time. Nacho Gil had a good penalty claim turned down for the Ches after the interval, but the visitors held on to take the advantage for next Sunday’s second leg in the Carlos Belmonte stadium. Barcelona B meanwhile are all but mathematically sure of a place in the second division after they thrashed Racing Santander 1-4 on Sunday. A sold-out Sardinero stadium saw Abdón Prats give the Cantabrians an early lead after a Dani Aquino shot came back off the post. However Carmona scored two for the visitors in the run up to half time, and the locals were left with ten men when Abdón was sent off for a rash tackle on Palencia at the start of the second half. Dani Romera got two more for the Catalans after that, and visiting keeper Suárez saved an Aquino penalty in between after Marlon brought down Peña in the area. (18.06.17)
