Celta still have work to do if they are to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League for the first time in their history after a narrow 3-2 victory over Genk in their first leg tie. Boetius headed the visitors in to an early lead, but two goals from Pione Sisto and Iago Aspas turned the scoreline around with less than twenty minutes gone. Soon afterwards Pablo Hernández headed a good chance wide, and shortly before the break Guidetti made it three after combining with Aspas to fire a shot wide of the ex Valencia keeper Mat Ryan. Sergio Alvarez had to save from Samatta and Malinovski before the break however, and midway through the second half substitute Buffel headed a second away goal for the Belgian side. The Galicians came out looking for more, Ryan keeping out late efforts from Jonny and Aspas, but it was not to be, and they now need at least a draw in Belgium next Thursday to be sure of going through.
