Summer transfers

The usual mad rush at the end of the summer transfer window, with over 50 deals closed on the last day. Granada made no less than six of those, registering Alberto Bueno, Carcela-González, Tabanou, Rubén Vezo, Kravets and Atzili, and Valencia tied up central defenders Garay and Mangala and striker Munir to replace Mustafi and Paco Alcácer, sold to Arsenal and Barcelona respectively. Espanyol were also very active, allowing Pau López to go to Tottenham once they had signed Diego López to replace him, and they also took on Alvaro Vázquez and Diego Reyes, the latter to replace Alvaro, who went to Villarreal. Elsewhere Sevilla signed Nasri from Manchester City and transferred Konoplyanka to Schalke, Deportivo took Stoke’s Joselu on loan, Betis snapped up Ryan Donk, Málaga filled their vacant goalkeeping slot with Boyko, etc., etc. That’s it now though until the January window opens again, although in the meantime clubs can still sign players who are unemployed, or to replace those with long term injuries.
