Latest transfers

Less than a week to go now before the 2015-16 season kicks off, and clubs have largely got their new squads together. The transfer window doesn`t close though until the end of the month, and some teams will be waiting to see how they fare in the opening game or two before making the final touches, especially those holding on for the bargain-basement last minute offloads as the deadline approaches. With Barcelona banned and Real Madrid fairly happy with their lot though, it has been left to others to animate the market, and Villarreal have been busy in the last few days signing up Soldado and (probably) Bakambu, and allowing Gerard Moreno to go back to his old club Espanyol. Atlético and Sevilla have already completed their squads, and Valencia will probably decide on whether to add any new players once their Champions League qualifier against Monaco is over, with Otamendi pushing for a move whether they get through or not. Manchester United are one of the candidates to sign him, and if rumours are to be believed they are also involved in other big deals which may affect La Liga sides, the names of De Gea, Valdés and Pedro appearing in the press every day. Whatever the case though, we will know for sure in a fortnight’s time, when the merry-go-round stops and teams get down to the real business in hand, playing football! (16.08.15)

PS. As we write we have just heard that Real Madrid are going to sign Inter Milan’s Croatian striker Kovacic. Things are starting to get interesting!
